The Old House behind the Vines
Elizebeth Clare Adamson, Joy as people called her, held her baggage close. The train whistle blew and the wheels clattered down the track. " Now remember , Joy," her father told her "This is just so you won't be around those angry businessmen from our competitors. That way you won't be so grumpy." He took their tickets and put them in his pocket. The "whoo hoo - whoo hoo" of the train got louder and louder. The clatter of its wheels erupted in a laughing loudness. Joy opened her hands and allowed her baggage to drop to the ground. She crossed her arms and stamped her foot impatiently. She heaved a long sigh and curled her lips slightly down in a cross look. The train's whistle then erupted with news of its coming. Its wheels rolled, clattering noisily. Joy stamped her foot once, showing impatience and anger. The train got closer and then pulled up to the station. No one came out of its cars, this was its first group for the day. Joy's father told his servants to bring their baggage to a room. Then he and Joy boarded the train and went to the room he had rented. He gave Joy some money and sent her to the gift shop in one of the cars. There, she bought a leather diary and a pen. She also bought a dark red velvet bag and other things.
